DND Override — Privacy Policy
Effective 20 October 2026 · Android app com.dukecorp1996.notisettings
DND Override does not collect, store off your device, or share any personal data. It has no internet permission, no analytics, and no advertising.
DND Override is a utility that lists the apps installed on your phone and lets you view and change the notification channel settings each of them has: importance, Override Do Not Disturb, badge, and lock-screen visibility. Everything the app does happens on your device.
Data we collect
None. The app does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information, device identifiers, usage statistics, or notification content. It does not use analytics, crash reporting, or advertising services, and it does not request the INTERNET permission, so it cannot send data anywhere. The only third-party component is Google Play's billing library, used for the optional tips described below.
Optional tips (in-app purchases)
The “Support the app” screen offers optional tips. They unlock nothing and are never required. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play's billing system under Google's privacy policy; DND Override never sees your name, payment method, or address. The app receives only a purchase confirmation token, which it uses once to show a thank-you and to mark the tip as consumed, and does not store.
What the app accesses on your device, and why
Notification access (notification listener). Android only allows an app to read or change another app's notification channels through a notification listener service. DND Override uses this capability solely to call the channel-settings APIs for the app you select. It does not read, store, log, forward, or act on the content of your notifications; the service implements no notification-received handling at all. You can revoke this access at any time in Android Settings → Notifications → Notification access (the exact path varies by manufacturer).
List of installed apps. To show you which apps you can edit, the app asks Android for the apps that have a launcher icon. This list is displayed on screen only; it is never stored or transmitted.
Companion device pairing. Android additionally requires an app to hold a companion-device association before it may change other apps' channels. During the one-time setup you pick any Bluetooth device from a system dialog. DND Override does not connect to, communicate with, or read data from that device; the association is only the permission token Android requires. You can remove it in Android Settings → Connected devices.
Data stored on your device
The app keeps one small preference file in its private storage: a count of how often you opened each app's channel list inside DND Override, used to show a “Most visited” shortcut row. This file never leaves the device except as part of Android's own encrypted app-data backup to your Google account, if you have that enabled on your phone. It is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its storage.
Data sharing and third parties
No data is shared with anyone. There are no third-party services, partners, or processors involved. The only external link in the app opens this page in your browser.
Permissions summary
✓ Notification access — read and change other apps' notification channel settings (user-granted, revocable)
✓ Package visibility for apps with a launcher icon — populate the app list
✓ Companion device association — required by Android for the above; no device communication
✓ Google Play billing (com.android.vending.BILLING) — optional tips, processed by Google Play
✗ No internet, location, contacts, storage, camera, or microphone access
Children
DND Override is a general-audience system utility. It is not directed at children under 13, and because it collects no data, no personal information from children is processed.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes what it accesses or stores, this page will be updated and the effective date above will change before the new version is released. The policy is linked from the app's menu and from its Google Play listing.
