PaTorrent is nearing 1.0
PaTorrent is a lean BitTorrent client in the spirit of µTorrent 2.2.1: small, fast, native, and comfortable with thousands of torrents. It runs on its own Rust port of the libtorrent engine, with a Windows GUI, a headless daemon with a Web UI, and a GTK interface for Linux and BSD.
Several big pieces of the road to 1.0 landed this week:
- v2 and hybrid torrents download and seed, and were tested against qBittorrent and Deluge.
- An HTTPS Web UI and remote mode, so the Windows GUI can drive a PaTorrent daemon on another machine.
- 34 languages, including right-to-left layouts, with the system language chosen by default.
- A first 100,000-torrent engine run: restored in about 2 seconds.
Still to come before 1.0: the rest of the Linux GTK interface, the large-library test on a low-end PC, release downloads for Windows, Linux, and macOS, and a final round of hands-on testing.
PaTorrent is still pre-alpha, so please don't use it for torrents you care about or on private trackers yet. You can follow along and send feedback on GitHub.
